How Spending $3 a Day Helped Me Hit My Fitness Goals in Baltimore, MD
–
Why Sometimes Investing in Convenience Is the Key to Progress
We’ve all been there—stuck in a cycle of knowing what we need to do but struggling to follow through. For me, it was protein shakes. As someone deeply invested in fitness and health, I know how critical protein is for building strength and maintaining a lean physique. Protein isn’t just important; it’s essential.
So, I figured the simplest, most cost-effective solution was to use protein powder. It’s much cheaper than pre-bottled protein shakes, and you just need to mix it yourself. Easy, right? That’s what I thought too. I bought a big tub of protein powder, ready to make shakes every morning.
But I consistently failed to hit my protein targets.
The Real Cost of “Saving Money”
Every time I needed to drink a protein shake, I got lazy. The thought of grabbing the shaker bottle, scooping the powder, mixing it, drinking it, and then cleaning the bottle just felt like too much effort.
I kept telling myself, “This is ridiculous. I’m skipping something essential to my fitness goals just to avoid three minutes of work!” And yet, day after day, I skipped the shakes.
I’d promise myself to do better tomorrow, only to repeat the same cycle. I was frustrated, stuck, and constantly reminded of how I was falling short. The worst part? I was stuck because I didn’t want to spend a few extra dollars a day on pre-bottled protein shakes.
Eventually, I asked myself: “For just $3 a day, what if you could hit your nutrition targets, achieve your fitness goals, and feel happier and less frustrated?”
It was a no-brainer. I made the switch to bottled protein shakes, and ever since, I’ve been nailing my protein goals. As a result, my progress in the gym has improved, and I feel much happier and less frustrated.
When to Throw Money at a Problem
Sometimes, throwing money at a problem isn’t feasible due to budget constraints, and that’s okay. But it’s worth asking yourself: What is the cost of not spending that money? For me, the cost was frustration, stalled progress, and wasted time.
If spending a small amount can help you get unstuck, it might be worth the investment—even if it’s just a temporary measure to help you build momentum.
For me, it was protein shakes. For you, it might be something else entirely, like hiring a personal trainer to help you reach your fitness goals.
